Radchenko, Mark ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
On a basis of my project of the second year of bachelor’s study on the Faculty of Civil Engineering the following bachelor‘s thesis is prepared, which goes on to the Documentation for Building Permit and Documentation for Construction. The theme of the work is Viladům in the Masaryk´s quarter in Brno. The basic idea of my project was to create a modern building with four above-standard apartments. The building responds to the surrounding buildings, it is designed with regard to the street line and the height of the surrounding buildings. The building corresponds to the surrounding buildings and taking into account the street line and the height of the surrounding buildings. The composition of the building is inscribed in the floor plan of the square and is formed by the play of heights and the movement of two parts in opposite directions and gives the impression that it consists of several figures. The jump-off is created for the sake of greater privacy between the flats and to prevent the visual overhang of the surrounding buildings. The northern part of the building includes a communication core, a bedroom with a private bathroom and an office. The orientation of the living rooms and dining rooms with the kitchen to the south side makes it pleasant sitting in the most illuminated part of the building. The land of the building is enclosed by a concrete fence. Viladům contains 4 floors. The main entrance is from Helceletova Street. The ground floor contains an entrance hall, a¨pram room, 4 cellars and 8 parking spaces, including 1 handicap. In the upper floors there are apartments with terraces. Each apartment has its own personal type of layout, which results from the different position of the entrances to the apartments. The 2 upper apartments are duplex. The facade of the building is filled in white silicone silicate plaster and structured plaster of fine gray-colored concrete for visual separation and lightening of the living floors.
FROM EAST TO WEST: RELATIONS, COLLISIONS, AND DIVERGENCE OF CZECH AND JAPANESE CULTURE
Vaculík, David ; Čapková, Helena (referee) ; Mitášová, Monika (advisor)
The diploma thesis follows up the pre-diploma research dealing with the investigation of selected literature on Japanese traditional and modern architecture and gardens, archival research of extant 20th century buildings in Czech republic influenced by Czech-Japanese relations and the contemporary perception of Japan in the eyes of the Czech professional and uninitiated audience. It also includes a selective glossary of Japanese words and terms, containing study translations from English of selected architectural literature related to the topic. The output took the form of a Discovery Book with a short glossary, pictorial data and an anthology of translated texts. The thesis follows this preliminary "introductory research" with two main parts. The first part (A) explores concepts of space-making and spatial elements deeply rooted in Japanese traditional buildings as they were rediscovered and rethought, particularly by 20th century Japanese architects – who continued to use and revive these concepts in their own work. The text traces their understanding of Japanese traditional architecture. Then, using the example of three Japanese traditional spatial "icons", four works by 20th century Japanese architects, and three works by Czech architects in different phases of the 20th century, the thesis probes the relationship between these two architectural cultures in a European context. The second part (B) consists of texts on the architectural designing of model, utopian housing. The whole design follows a narrative – a scenario that shapes a temporal and spatial sequence that is not in line with the classical perception of time and space but spirals upwards. The next subsection interprets this story into spatio-temporal gradients and elements. Parts C and D contain conclusions and literature used. Model buildings are proposed on a range of scales: the smallest dwelling (a capsule), minimal dwelling, community dwelling, house, villa, city, and a coffin. The composition of the different scenarios and structures respects the movement along a spiral, where we can also observe the cyclical nature of life itself, which ends with the last terminal phase that escapes the gradient of scales – the coffin. These individual proposals are inspired by the studied phenomena and elements, texts and buildings of Japanese and European architecture with their interrelationships. The aim of this thesis is first to study the spatial, temporal, but also light and colour possibilities of Japanese traditional and modern architecture in the context of European, especially Czech, ones. Another aim is to propose a model-based, utopian housing project with a gradient layering of spaces, structures, materials, views and lighting based on various game strategies as well as the maxims of “Form follows fiction”.

Vémolová, Petra ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the design of new villa building which is placed in Brno-Stranice. The main part of the land is currently a residential building with reference number 1033. The land is boun-ded by the Helceletova street on the east side and Roubalova street on the north side. The building was designed to harmonize with the shape of the land. The skew walls were used for this purpose. The villa has four aboveground floors and one underground floor. The plot is located on a slope. The construction system uses the combined skeleton. The outer peripheral masonry is made of Porotherm ceramic blocks thickness of 300 mm. The columns are from a reinforced concrete, concrete is C25/30, XC1, S4. The horizontal carrier system is composed of a reinforced concrete slabs which are reinforced in two directions. The reinforced concrete is made of C25/30, XC1, S4 concrete and B500/B500B steel. The foundations are designed as a reinforced concrete foundation pads and strips. The foundation pads are from a concrete C20/25 with the gap under underlying concrete C8/10 thickness of 50 mm and they are stored at a depth of -4.010 meters. The foundations under peripheral walls are from the reinforced concrete. The foundation strips are from concrete C20/25 and they are stored at a depth of -4.010 meters too. The windows are folded from the aluminium frames and the insulating double glazing. The architectural emphasis is created by the peripheral walls and the unusual ground plan. The facade is ventilated and is constructed with an air gap. The outdoor tiles are made from the light stone veneer of 20 mm thickness. The flat roof is a warm flat roof with the heated roof drain and overflows. The gradient of the roof is ensured by using the gradient wedge made of expanded EPS polystyren. The moisture barrier layer above the ceiling plate is made from a modified self-adhesive asphalt strip of 1.2 mm thickness. The top layer is designed to bonding the heat insula-tion by polyureth
